A Complete Guide to the Pixel 4 Leaks

Google tends to have a bad habit of leaking details on it's products months before it's release. It happened last year with the Pixel 3 and it continues this year with the Pixel 4 as well. Continue reading to find out more about this not-so-hidden device.

Design: A merge of two worlds

The Pixel 4 in extremely similar to the iPhone 11 in the back half and the same screen as the Samsung s8/9 with a larger top bezel. Google itself even leaked a render of the phone which you can see below.

The Pixel 4 is supposed to have a G logo near the bottom of the phone while it also has a square-ish rear camera system. The front however, has a sizable top bezel for 2019 while the bottom bezel is barely visible.

Now, there are no leaks surrounding display quality but I'd suspect that the Pixel 4 has a FHD+ display while the Pixel 4 XL has a QHD+ screen. These panels are also rumored to support 90hz but don't be surprised if they stick to 60hz.  I'd also expect these panels to be manufactured by Samsung so expect an incredible screen.

Performance: Security is key

The Pixel 4 is supposed to be powered by the Snapdragon 855 although the 855+ is also possible. There is also a slight boost in battery size but there is no exact size confirmed yet. IP68 water resistance and wireless charging is expected to return as well. They're also expected to bump up RAM size from 4 to 6GB which would improve multi-tasking significantly. Even with all of these improvements however, the headphone jack is not expected to return.

The phones are rumored to arrive with advanced facial recognition tech which explains why the front bezel is so large. It's supposed to come with sensors such as an IR camera, Soli radar chip, etc. If you want to learn more about these sensors and how they improve security, look at Google's blog post.

Camera: Because five wasn't enough

The phone's facial recognition sensors should act like extra sensors which would aid in camera quality. These sensors should help enhance depth, bokeh, and night shots while improving quality. The rear camera however, is rumored to add an extra telephoto lens of 16MP which is impressive considering the usual limit is 12MP. This would allow the phone to have at least a 2x zoom without sacrificing quality.

Price: Brought up to standards

Considering the rather steep price hike last year for the pixel 3, I'd expect a similar increase this year as well. I'd estimate the pixel 4 start at USD$900-950 while the 4XL will be around the USD$1000 mark.

Value and verdict: Patience is necessary

In my opinion, this year's Pixel is a nice upgrade but I can't recommend it because of it's price. There are much better phones available: the s10+is a great option since it'll be heavily discounted, the Oneplus 7 pro is another option in case you're heavily reliant on stock android while the Note 10+ is made for the power users.

Although, if you're willing to wait, at least until Christmas, I'd say it's worth it. Knowing Google and their reputation for heavily discounting products after little time, I'll have no doubt that this Pixel 4's original price won't stay for long. If you're able to find this for $100-150 off, I'd recommend it, solely for it's wonderful camera. The Oneplus 7 pro may be cheaper but they just can't compete with the Pixel series. In conclusion, if you're considering this phone, I'd recommend you either be patient for price drops or look elsewhere.

Details on the New Galaxy Watch Active 2

Samsung's unpacked event revealed a bunch of different things. They released the Galaxy note 10 series , the Galaxy Book S and revealed partnerships with Microsoft and United Nations. One of the more subtle announcements was the update to the original Galaxy watch Active. In this post, I will discuss the differences between the two models and my opinion of whether the upgrade is worth it. Differences : Small yet significant There are three major changes; the touch bezel, the different sizes and availability of LTE. The touch bezel behaves the same way as the rotating bezel in the Galaxy watch but instead of physically moving the bezel, you're just dragging your finger around it to navigate the interface. This is a very big change as the absence of the rotating bezel made navigating the watch's interface significantly worse but the Galaxy watch was made somewhat thick to accommodate it. Now, it's the best of both worlds; the watch can have a slim body while being eas...

Everything about the Galaxy Note 10

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Note 10 series at the August Unpacked event. These phones has been heavily leaked and this event only confirms most of these leaks. The Note 10 line-up has consists of two phones, the vanilla Note 10  and the Note 10+. In this post, I will discuss the specs, differences and my opinion of who should purchase these devices. Display : An appreciable upgrade The Note 10 has an FHD+display measuring about 6.3 inches while the Note 10+ uses an absurdly large panel, measuring about 6.8 inches of QHD+ goodness. Although the FHD+resolution on the Note 10 is a disappointing step down, it is somewhat understandable considering the budget Galaxy s10e uses an FHD+ panel as well. Both panels utilize an Infinity O display with a hole-punch in the centre. The displays also contain an ultrasonic in display fingerprint scanner and takes up almost the entire phone with only a few millimetres of bezels, and there is a noticeable difference compared to the s10 s...
